Black marble is actually not completely black
Even if it looks like this: black marble is not black at all. At least not pure black. In every type of marble, there are small bright sprinkles or veins or clouds in lighter colors. It is precisely through these striking features that black marble appears mysterious and attracts attention. Many of the types of marble sold as black marble don’t even look really black. The strength of the dark color components depends on the respective rock layers in the quarry and can fluctuate greatly, as with all types of natural stone. The Bainshlana Black from India e.g. is a type of marble whose look is composed of white and black stripes. In some rock strata, the white stripes are very prevalent, while the black ones appear dark gray, creating a fairly bright picture. In any case, nobody would classify the natural stone as black marble!
